So I have an anker external battery and I'm using the iPad charger for my iphone 5. Now it's only the iPad cable and not the actual brick since it's going into the external battery. Does the issue of the iPad cable have too much wattage to charge the iphone still comes into play since I'm not using the actual brick of the iPad charger to charge my iphone? Thanks guys!

No

iPad and iPhone cords are the same. Additionally, it wouldn't hurt your phone to charge it from the iPad charger anyway

Battery circuits will only draw the power they need and were designed for. The brick does not "push" power. So you could have a 100 watt charger and the phone would still only draw the watts it needs.

Only the 6 and 6+ can take full advantage of the iPad charger. Otherwise it works on a 5 like your smaller white cube.
