So my friends daughter stepped on their iPad. The iPad will still power on, and I thought it just needed a new LCD as the middle of the screen is distorted with a few lines. So I hooked it up to iTunes and restored it to factory settings, then I go to start the setup and each time it will freeze shortly into setup, and the only way I can continue on is to restore the device again.

Does this mean the device is shot or is there anything i can do to get it back?

Thanks in advance!

well i was hoping to repair it myself

as I have no desire to buy a brand new one again. It's an iPad one. I was hoping someone would say that maybe the memory inside maybe got unseated or something similar when it got stepped on.
