I've got the box ticked in iTunes on my MBA which says 'prefer 1080p' when downloading movies/TV shows etc. However if I download a movie from my iPads or iPhone would they auto download in 1080p over say 720p or any other HD format for example?

I haven't synced my new iPad mini with my MBA although I've obviously signed in to iTunes on the iPad Mini using my Apple ID. Any idea?

There are no settings in iOS 6 to control this. Not for movies. I know once you download an episode of a TV show you can get a list of the season and toggle between SD and HD but nothing for 1080 v 720.

Since the selection on the computer is a store preference with luck it carries over to all devices so you could always trying switching it before downloading a movie to your iPad Mini and see what happens

And with even more luck they will restore the selector feature from iOS 5. And add a 1080/720 option.
