my dad will be getting an ipad soon. He will get his own apple id and will use icloud for backup. He won't have a computer to sync it up with. Is it possible to connect his ipad to my mac and for it only to sync music, books and photos (no apps). How would this work? If i plug in ipad to itunes after he has used it, will it insist on setting it up as a new ios device (therefore deleting whatever data is on it) because there will be no prior backup to restore from? After each sync, will he be able to buy apps etc. and have everything backed up to icloud as normal?
After the initial and subequent syncs, can anyone confirm that the new ipad (with my dad's apple id) won't interfere with any of my apps/backups etc.?
can different ios devices with different apple id's sync up to 1 itunes library with the sole purpose of media (music, books, photos) sync?
in summary, all i want is for him to use the ipad normally (with icloud), but only use my itunes library to get music, books and photos (no apps to be synced). Will this work?
thanks
phil
