Probably just needs an update from the developer.

There's no way it should be slower than on iPad 2.

THere are always a handful of apps that wont even run on a new os release or hardware, would you call the new versions broken for that?

With the second update just released sketchbook pro, running at retina resolution and more advanced, runs pretty smoothly so obviously that doodle app could.

The lag is on doodle buddy app go and check it out it's free

Ok but your title makes it sound like an issue with iPad.

The actual issue is you are using a device within days of its release before 3rd party software has all been tweaked of any issues, and is not really worth discussing.

This has nothing to do with the OP. Start reading the OP's, thank you.

Well if it actually had anything to do with the hardware, those tips would be what you try to help.

Hardly worth calling him out on, just trying to help.

Maybe a better title would be Doodle app lag is horrible. I haven't experienced any lag in any other rapp.

I noticed Sketchbook Express is laggy also. It's not totally consistent. Sometimes it's smooth and others it noticeably laggy.

As I was writing this comment, I tested Sketchbook again and experienced lag. Then I noticed there was an update. My testing of the update has been buttery smooth and very responsive. That seems like a good indication that apps just need to be updated to run smoothly and not a limitation of the iPad itself.
