Hi Guys,
Do you think the iPad will have a huge launch, like the iPhone did, where senior VP's came to the UK and there were huge queues outside most of the apple stores, especially the London one.
Do you think there will be that sort of fuss this time? The reason I ask is, I want to be one of those in the queue.

Paddy

Yes I think there will be lines, just like there will be lines here in the States. Hopefully you won't have to wait too much after they are released here to get one.

I think it's almost certainly probably a possibility that the launch might be a big deal here in the UK, or not.

Worldwide availability in 60 days was what was said at the keynote. We could get it before you if it's the same time/date across the world as it has been with other products.

I wonder if it's worth ordering one online and waiting for delivery or risk going on the day (30 miles) only to find they've all sold out!

I plan on going a good 10+ hours before it's released. With the iPhone launch I remember people being in the queue for like 15 hours.

Not sure about 10 hours, but i intend having one on launch day, whatever it takes. I can see me using it at least 3-4 hours a day.

Has anyone been to an Apple launch? Apparently there's free tshirts etc?

Well i'll be getting the 3g model so hopefully most people would have bought the wifi only version and the hype would of cooled down.

Besides, loads of shops will be selling them just like the way they currently sell ipods and the touch. Just the other day i was on the game.co.uk and they already had ipad coming soon adverts up.

I know they used to give out goody bags of software and hardware, and even iPods at new store openings, but I don't know if they do anything like this for product launches.

Will there be a fuss?

Hell Yes. The stock will be smaller than the initial demand. We will see, but the UK will be able to gauge this better having seen the US reception to the product launch.

I suppose as more information is released closer to launch, that will affect my decision. I live in Manchester, but will probably travel to London, depending on what they put on.
How exciting.

A New apple store opening near where i live, Newcastle!!! should be open for the launch of the iPad, and hopefully ill be going on launch night/day!!!

At the very least I'm guessing a National Holiday, street parties and a General Election.

I thought the out going prime minister got burnt at the steak. Whilst holding the new product, to see how fire retardant it is.

I live in the US but if I were to live elsewhere I would do this kinda approach. Pre-order online and if my order hasn't shipped yet, I would try to get one at launch or next day. If I were to get one at the store, I would cancel my online order. This all depends if my online order ships or not.

Nice, its only 20 mins on the train from where i live, so get there stupid hours before it opens with the iPad, then get the iPad, then come home and play with it on the train!, even though ill have no 3G or anything, im sure playing around with it will be fun!

And im still trying to get the managers job there, just need to send my application off! but i think it may have been filled in the recruitment drives
