My friend got a new iPad today and after he set up his corporate email account, it forces his iPad to lock at the most after 5 minutes idle, and his MS Exchange password is needed to unlock the iPad. He didn't set it up this way, but we think it has something to do with the Exchange server settings.

This is great for corporate user management but I had never heard of it until today. Is this something new in ios 5.1?

He's the CEO so he likes the idea, but doesn't want the security settings to apply to him.

Anyone hear of this before?

It's a policy on the exchange server...IT could turn it off but it seems like a pretty bad idea to me.

Yep, not new to 5.1 I don't believe. Yes it's policy on the Exchange server.

It's stuff like this that makes IT/Security grumble about execs. The policy is good for everyone until it inconveniences him. When his devices are probably the most important to protect! Sigh.
