I currently have a 3rd gen iPad w/ Verizon LTE. I also have a Verizon iPhone 5 and am grandfathered in to the unlimited data plan. From what I can tell the monthly cost for 2gb of data on the iPad is the same as the monthly cost to add tethering to my phone. If that's the case, can anyone think of a reason why I shouldn't just tether through my phone? I can't think of a time I'd have my iPad and not my phone.

iPad LTE still has the same 10 hour battery life.

Tethering to your iPhone 5 means it will last only as long as your iPhone has juice. And tethering takes up a crazy amount of juice. Maybe you'll get an hour or two?
