Seriously it closes the mails from tab every time you open one. They couldn't figure out a better option? Voice your opinions in the pol.

I don't have a problem with it, but if it bothers you so much I'm sure that there are other mail apps in the app store, and most likely your email provider has a mobile version of their site you can use.

Ideally, you're meant to use it in landscape, and rotate to portrait, when you want to concentrate on a particular email.

Ditto, almost always have the iPad in landscape mode. I type to much to fiddle around with portrait mode. Most of my emails themselves are fairly short. People generally send me longer things as attachments.

From time to time I'll do some reading in portrait mode, things like PDFs or eBooks. But mostly I'm replying or commenting, or doing something that requires the keyboard. And I type much more comfortably using all of my fingers in landscape.

Portrait mode for mail is something I hardly use, so it doesn't really bother me.

I'd have to agree.

I usually read emails in portrait mode and wish there was a way to turn on the side column even if it did minimize the space for emails.

I think turning it to landscape to get a better view of the email is a better solution over turning to landscape to get the column to show up constantly.

Navigation is important when sifting through emails.

Plus, a name and few lines of the email shouldn't take up so much space - not sure why the heck it needs to be so wide.

I agree, it could be better. I think it would be great it it would be like on the mac, half screen emails, other half the email selected showing. Top/bottom.

Pinch in to go full screen, pinch out to go back half half mode. Think ipad's youtube app.

If the iPad had a retina display I would use it in portrait more often. However, since it does not, it is too blurry most of the time in portrait so I have to use it in landscape.
