Has anyone else noticed a speed increase on he iPad mini 1 with iOS 8.2? Mine seems to have sped up dramatically!

From being something that I only used for light web browsing, it seems more capable now?

I didn't notice any difference on my rMini iPad...

I may finally move my iPad3 to iOS8 now from iOS7 (but wished I had kept it back on iOS6:eek:)

On iOS8 and 8.1 my 1st gen iPad mini was horrendously slow! So much that I barely used it, on 8.2 it's speed has increased tenfold! It's making me worry thoug that if the next update will cripple it again:S

Ok I just updated my rMini after reading this thread and I can confirm there is definitely a speed bump in the UI animations!

----------

Anyone else notice that the camera app isn't solid black anymore!? Its a lighter black now. Guess it was belending in too much with black backgrounds

Brilliant! Not just me then :)

I have iOS 7.1.2 still on my iPad Mini Retina.

Should I go for it or stay with my current version?

Guinea pig.. so you might be the one..

I may move my iPad3 and report back...

I would be very interested to know how 8.2 is performing on the iPad3.
So far I could not bing myself to go further then 7.1.2.
My collected info tells me, it might run "ok" with only a small reduction of speed.
If you go ahead, let us know!

Anyone here who already did take the plunge ??

Greetings,

I finally gave in and moved my ipad 3 from iOS 5.1 to iOS 8.2 yesterday. I am quite surprised to report that it came out far better than I had expected. There is some UI lag in transitions, but not enough to be a show stopper.

I did it last night also but went to sleep before posting...

I think it's better than iOS7 originally was for the iPad3 but there is still some lag in operation...I had already given it to my wife so it was an upgrade from her original iPad so I don't really think she'll notice it:p

So far so good with my iPad 3 on 8.2. Seems to have a bit of a speed bump but nothing amazing. Typing still has slowed down considerably since I upgraded to iOS 8. Worth the upgrade? Only if your iPad 3 was already on iOS 8 and above.

This thread persuaded me to upgrade from 7.1.2. to 8.2 on my mini 1. It's definitely a little more sluggish than it was on 7.1.2. Apps take a couple of seconds to load on opening, but it's not unusable.

If you're got a mini 1 and are still on 7.2.1 I'd suggest sticking with that, but if you've already upgraded to 8/8.1 it sounds like you should install 8.2.
