As topic, Im considering one of these and there is currently a very nice cover for it that I am considering if the the new iPad mini works with it.

I obviously haven't held a Mini 2, but if you can tell 0.3 mm of thickness while holding and looking at the screen, then kudos for you!

Doubt it but some covers/cases might be really fuzzy while others might not be. This is a leather case though, feels like the only possible difference would be that it would be fitted slightly firmer, however, if anyone knows about flaws in my thinking that would be appreciated.

I would think most cases would still be fine. If the case is cut very precisely to the form factor of the iPad mini 1 then I would assume it would be very firm, but still doable. Unless it is plastic.

Difference in depth has already been said to be negligible in first impressions

You should be fine with any of those leather style cases, as even the Apple smart case says it works with both iPad Minis.

Where you might run into trouble is with plastic snap-on covers.
