iPad mini 2 no voice in maps

Hello everyone!

Sorry if this has been asked recently, if it has could someone please direct me where to go?

I bought my dad the iPad mini 2 from Walmart as they were selling them cheap and we have run into a bit of a problem.
When he opens maps and puts in directions to somewhere, there is no voice directions.
We have tested the sound on everything else and it works fine and the slider at the side of the iPad is not set to silent. I have also tried restarting the iPad with no luck.

I'm quite new to apple products so I'm unsure if this is a problem or if the iPad mini 2 just doesn't have voice directions for maps.

I've had the same situation. Whenever you have no sound in an app, be sure to turn up the volume button when in the app, when it should be talking to you. ie, after you click the start button and the navigation starts.
I realize that you may feel you have already done that, but give it a shot again.
