Didn't they say later in November?

Which means the last week me thinks

Which is about a month (I'm good at math :) )

Too much. I know it's Apple's style to not compete on price, but I'll be sticking with my 1st gen mini. At $499 for a 32GB model (minimum usable IMO), you might as well be looking at the iPad air. When the refurbs come around maybe I'll give it a second look.

I'll be getting the iPad Mini w/Retina. Been waiting a year for it to come out. I can handle the extra 70.00 or so. It's the perfect size and with retina, oh yeah!! Space Gray baby!

32gb will be 470ish after tax.... Ouch.! Perspective I paid 269 for 32gb Nexus 7. Not comparing devices.... Just price.

Wish I knew how much memory this will have. That's my #1 problem right now. Switching back and forth between Safari and Notability, the iPad Mini has to reload the applications every single time.

Vindicated! :)

No way was mini with retina going to be $329, that just keeps cannibalization going. And if they could sell the 1st mini for $329 like hot cakes, higher price for retina was inevitable.

Now more folks have more thinking to do between the new mini and the new Air.

I have been without an iPad since April so a little more wait will not hurt. In this time and given todays announcement I have decided to the dump the full sized iPad for the Mini 2 based on the fact that it has:

a) Retina

b) 128GB of storage

c) The same internals

d) The mini looks far sexier than its dinosaur sibling.

The iPad mini is 1/10th of an inch thicker. That's almost a 25% increase. No thanks.

Maybe next year they'll come out with the Apple iPad Mini Air 2 LTE blah blah.... innovation is DEAD at Apple.

Oh dear oh dear.

It is 7.5mm vs 7.2mm of the first gen. 4.2% thicker

To quote Phil Schiller, "The new iPad Mini is 1/10th of an inch thicker than the existing Mini" ... now 1/10th of an inch is 2.5mm, so not sure where you're getting your info. 2.5mm increase is actually a 33% increase in thickness.

Not sure if I trust Phil's words or the Apple Specs site. I highly doubt it'd only be 3/10ths of a mm thicker, that would be so negligible that the battery increase wouldn't compensate for the retina.

Phil Schiller did not say a single word about the thickness of the retina mini. The 1/10th inch quote is from the thickness of the iPad Air.
