I don't like the thinner bezel of the portrait mode of the mini. It looks like it forces you to use the device in landscape mode and gives the iPad an unpleasant asymmetric look. Someone else thinks the same ?

Nope. I've always thought the regular iPads looked clunky from the excess amount of bezel. Love the look of the Mini.

This. 2/5 of the iPad were the borders, but they needed it for the battery. Glad they did this so you can see all screen and no excess bezel.

yes.

But it's a two camp thing. A lot of people object to the bezel.
Personally, the reduced bezel makes me nervous.

But then again, this isn't the 9.7. So only time will tell what's what.
I would suspect that Apple knows what they are doing. At least I hope so.

You need the larger bezel on the regular iPad so you can hold it by the side. On the mini you can hold it with one hand, similarly to holding your phone by the finger tips so you don't need the side bezels.

I was worried about the thin bezel as well, but under the design description, it says that the iPad mini recognizes whether your thumb is simply resting on the display or if it's intentionally interacting with it.

it works like the iPhone 5 does.

I like it better. Thinner bezel = more screen
