I really would like to buy an iPad but I am stuck between the Mini and a refurbished iPad 2. The mini is $330 but the iPad 2 is only $359.99 for a 16GB WiFi model. I already have a Nexus 7, which I usually use only for games and web, so I am familiar with the 7" tablet class. However, even though I may enjoy the extra 2" or so that the iPad 2 would give me, I'm at a loss for which one I should purchase. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It all comes down to portability

One is bigger & the other is smaller

I found the ipad to be too heavy for what I use it for

If you're a heavy game player, get iPad; if you just need it for light social platforms and want to use on bed, get iPad mini.

On a contrary, i think if you are heavy gamer... get Ipad mini. It is a lot lighter and more mobile so you can play game comfortable. Ipad 2 is way too heavy for games like Dark Knight Rises or temple run. My suggestion, lose the Nexus and add more bucks to get 32G ipad mini. Nexus 7 and Ipad mini is purposed exactly the same.

2 because of the larger and more enjoyable screen space

Got my refurb 2 last month for $319 on apple.com

Mini. Better cameras, better wifi, lte (if you want), Siri. And it's cheaper, lighter, and thinner. The ONLY thing the iPad 2 has going for it is a bigger screen (same resolution tho). And I say this as someone who has and loves his iPad 2.
