iPad Mini or iPhone Maxi ?

Looks like we are about to get a 2nd iPad form factor.

Is it the one you wanted or would you rather Apple had first introduced an additional iPhone size?

Two different products two different target markets.

Personally, I'd gladly get a 4.3" iPhone AND a 7.85" iPad because they both are used for different tasks.
