I think in the UK something like this seems appropriate...
iPad mini
8gb £199/£299
16gb £249/£349
32gb £329/£429
64gb £409/£509

If rumors of a 8gb are true. I would rather see no 8gb (what's the point) and have them start at 16gb though.

An 8GB would work great for me. Even when I had my 8GB iPhone I never ran out of space. I hope that the mini is decently priced, I really want one. I guess if its overpriced I can always get a used iPad.

I just have a feeling it's going to be outrageously priced. The $249 and even the $299 price tag would be great, but I don't see that happening. I'm thinking AT LEAST $350.

That pricing would be nice. I would definitely get my wife a 16gb mini here in the UK, but i dont expect they will be that cheap. I reckon 8gb will start at £249 personally.

Maybe £249, but then you look around and see a 32GB Nexus 7 for £199, and an 8GB iPad mini for £249?

Just hoping that in the US they start at $249 which would most definitely suggest a £199 price here. £199 just sounds so cheap lol.

If rumors are true and they have rear cameras too then that could make a point for charging more though.

We'll find out next week I guess!! :D :apple:

Yeah, i guess. But Apple never try and compete on price do they?

Heres hoping for uber cheapness.

16GB - $299/$429
32GB - $399/$529
64GB - $499/$629

-or-

8GB - $249/$379
16GB - $349/$479
32GB - $449/$579

either way - as long as the screen is great - its a winner :D

I have it on VERY good authority that the baseline model will be $250. This is coming from someone who is in a very unique position to know (no, it's not just an Apple retail employee or anything weak like that. Someone in authority.).

Before I heard it from this person, I believed the baseline would be $300 or $350.

Edit: just thought I would add that this person got the event date correct as well, far in advance. This person also did not necessarily intend for me to know the information, but I've been able to receive this information in a reliable way. And no, I'm not trying to prank anyone here, because I really couldn't care less about lying on an Internet forum :)

Nope, but they aren't competing on price with a £199 one. If it was £249 and 32gb then I would argue they're being more competitive.

Well, it looks like the 8GB will start at $249. I bet we get shafted at £199 in the UK. Heres hoping for a £149 entry price. If only Apple didnt insist on £100 increments for $10 flash memory.

Nah apple can give a rats crack about price competition, that would bring a level of compromise that would go against their mission. They don't do cheap they do premium and quality and leave it up to you to decide wheather or not to part with the cash..

You think it will be better then the iPad 2?

Of course it will be better than the 2. At the very least the screen (even using the 2's res) will have a higher ppi, they can use the in-cell to up the quality while keeping a thin profile.

We'll see a "better" A5 chip as well - not to mention the mini will probably get Siri.

The main evidence that the iPad 2 is getting the axe is that Apple dropped the number from the iPad lineup. They don't plan on having multiple iPads on the market at the same time (ala the Macbook Pros). The iPad mini is the MacBook Air in this sense.

Also why they decided to keep the number with the iPhone - because there will always be three in the marketplace at the same time.
