Well iPad mini fell off roof of the car. Found it in the middle of the road face down. The condition is the glass shattered, lcd is broken. It doesn't come on but the backlight does and ever time I plug it in and press the power button.

Is it possible if i buy a screen and lcd placement it still works?

I hate to say it, but probably not. Being crushed by cars isn't something I'd expect a tablet to survive.

Maybe fate is telling you that you should look into getting yourself one of the new iPads when they're announced next week...

true..just wondering cause the backlight still comes on

Sorry for your technological loss. I think you're in for a new one.

May I ask why the iPad was on the roof in the first place?

The backlight turning on can mean that the iPad registers the electricity but other vital iPad components are likely broken.

It def registeres electricity. Overtime i plug it in it comes on...do you think the logic board works?

Despite how bad it looks, take it to an Apple Store and they will likely offer an out of warranty replacement. I believe they're around $200 for the iPad Mini.

cool thanks, ill try that

Looks pretty bad. Probably the worst damage I have ever seen :D

Is the iPad registered by iTunes and can you sync it?
If you can sync it without any problems then the processor, storage etc are functioning fine. In that case you could replace the screen. No way of telling if the wifi chips and so on are functioning or not until you have a working screen though.

Best option like another poster said is take it to the apple store and get an out of warranty replacement.

I remember the first iPad I bought - iPad 1 64GB. I had it maybe a week before I left it on the top of the wife's car as I was buckling in the kids. She drove off. I still think that cheap Walmart HP sleeve it was in is magical, as it survived that ride and flying off the top of her car as she made a hard left out of our subdivision. It hit a curb and bounced off onto the grassy shoulder. When I got to it, a guy on a bike was just picking it up. I crossed traffic to the other side of the road to get it before he rode off (he was actually a nice guy and handed it over without hesitation). I didn't open it until I got home... it had a slight dent on the back and a small gouge, but otherwise in perfect shape. My 5 year old still uses it today!

He was one when the iPad came out :p

Screen and Digitizer

You need to replace the screen and digitizer. Until that is done its hard to tell if anything else has been damaged. I would guess that because the backlight still comes on there is hope that may be all that was damaged. Check out Gadget Menders for replacement parts and tools. I used their products to replace a battery and it worked out for me. They also have some how to videos on the site to guide you thought the repairs. (good for someone like me who had never done anything like that before)
