I was planning on getting a ipad mini with retina display in a few weeks, but I'm starting to get a bit nervous about the screen size. I'd like to be able to draw on my ipad and take occasional notes. I even got a ruler and drew out 7.9 diagonal vs 9.7 diagonal to see the difference. The screen size on the full size ipad at 9.7 looks massively bigger when they are compared. Unfortunately, I can't afford the ipad air so it would have to be either the ipad 4 or the ipad mini with retina display.

I would love to get your opinion on the matter. Thank you for the help. :D

iPad mini retina or ipad 4 for drawing?

Get the iPad 4. Drawing on a large screen is easier than a screen that is smaller. It's like trying to daw a detailed picture on an iPhone and your saying to yourself "I need a larger screen". You can try the iPad Mini retina and if it is to small, return it within 14 days and get a refurbished iPad 4. I hope I helped.

Maybe keep an eye on the Apple online store for refurbished iPad Airs. They might come in under your price limit.
