Hi everyone,

I'm looking into buying an iPad with cellular for boarding school - primarily for Pages, web-browsing and emailing. I don't plan to be storing large files, movies apps, so 16GB is enough.

I would have liked to purchase the iPad 5, but that isn't set for release for a few months, my possible options are the iPad mini or a refurbished iPad 3 (both are about the same price).

My question is: which would have the higher resell value come October when the new iPad/iPad-mini range is released?

All iPads carry crazy high resell value - iPad 3 (refurb) will hold more than because you are getting it a lot cheaper than retail. Depends also if iPad Mini 2 is retina. But the truth is - they will be about the same retail value.

I would say the base ipads have the highest percentage resell value over the higher capacity.
I've been able to sell my older ipads when I've upgraded at about a 15-20% loss (depending on how and where I sold it).
