Starting today, best buy had a special with $50 off an ipad mini with retina display.

I'm not a huge fan of bestbuy, but I wanted to pass along the deal to anyone looking At buying a rMini soon.

YMMV but I seriously doubt it will work as the $50 off counters the Target $50 GC. That's probably why they did the $50 off in response to Target.

Will they price match? I just bought one like 10 days ago from bestbuy

Looks like it's only off the wifi models? Says full price still on cellular ones

They'll price match their price within 30 days but it has to be a like for like item. Color doesn't matter.

You have to add the iPad without a cellular plan into the cart to get the $50 off. Or if you're using the Best Buy mobile app, the price is showing the $50 off.

Maybe if I wink at a pretty cashier and tell her she looks nice?

Seriously the worst that can happen is it will not fly but I have seen strange things happen at BB.

Oh yeah no doubt, i'm not saying your wrong about trying it. That's why I put a YMMV. It is worth a shot and I ordered an rMini shipped to my closest BB store. I will ask just in case.
 
So since the cellular ones are 50 off. Do I go to BB with my receipt and mini and ask for 50 back? Or do they gimme a gc
 
If they give me flack can I just refund mine then buy one at the new price? I wonder if they'll try to say some bs like because I bought a 32 gb verizon they'll say oh we only have AT&T or sprint

On electronics BB has a 14 day policy for returns. So yea you have a few days to return it and buy it again at the sale price if they give you a hassle.

You don't need to return it. Just bring in the empty box and tell them you want the GC deal and if you are within the return/exchange window they'll just re-ring the transaction so you get a GC. ;)
 
You think someone who bought rMini the day after Christmas from best buy will be able to price match even w reward zone?

I somehow doubt it.

You won't be able to...MyBestBuy return period is now 45 days. But that is returns only, not price matching. For price matching, Best Buy only offers 14 days from purchase date.

They have done overrides for me with price matching. Why? They know it would lead to a return within 45 days and I'd go to the other resource to purchase it cheaper.

They have even done overrides when something they sell in store goes cheaper and is past the lower price refund portion window.

Some people hate BB, not me. I am an elite plus member and they have zero interest for periods of time depending what one spends. I have done returns with zero questions asked whatsoever. No hassle at its best.

I agree with you. I got the same price override for my iPad Air when they discounted them $70 for Black Friday. I was 21 days into my 45 day return period. I told the cashier at the returns desk that it was stupid for me to have to return my perfectly good iPad Air and buy a new one at the lower price when he could just adjust the price and keep me as a happy customer. He did exactly that and I didn't have to jump back into the poor screen lotto pool :p.

I was, however, in my post stating what the policy of best buy is...but I see your point when I started off my post saying "you won't be able to..."

My rMini came with a free 15 dollar gift card as of time of purchase. I wonder if that will mess with my chance to succeed.

I'm thinking probably but might not hurt to ask
