Is anyone else having this issue?

I have 53 photos in my photo library on my 16GB iPad mini retina and since upgrading to IOS8 it keeps telling me in the About section of the settings that I have 764 photos on the device. I don't sync photos with my MacBook and I've erased and restored twice now over the last few weeks and it lasts for a while but then starts reporting it again. It's taking up GBs of space and has left me with only 400 odd MB left.

Are you using that Icloud photo storage thing? If so, you might have checked the "download the originals on this ipad in full resolution" or how ever they word it. Worth checking into anyways.

If it IS checked then you'll want to uncheck it or turn that off. Might help.
