Two nights ago, my wife was using her iPad 1 (3G is not active) on our WiFi network (WPA2 secured) with her Targus Bluetooth keyboard (model AKB32US) to purchase some gift cards on gifttracker.com.

She paused a moment while entering her personal information (https secured) to watch the TV. A few moments later, she saw a message on the next text entry line saying, "hello [wife's name], we see your messages". She didn't see it being typed, only that it appeared on the next text line.

After my brain cycled through the possibilities, I told her to turn off the Bluetooth keyboard and use her MacBook instead. I then took a quick walk around the house and didn't find anything suspicious.

Bluetooth has a range of about 30 feet in perfect settings; the only thing I thought could be possible was the adjacent house, but the signal would have to pass through two brick walls without windows.

A quick search on Google shows that Bluetooth can be "hacked", but it doesn't appear to be a very easy process. With Bluetooth's limited range, someone would have to be in a car outside the house. Not only that, the process I found would only READ the information, not WRITE information.

My other thought is that somehow the neighbor's Bluetooth keyboard and ours got paired on the same key. Impossible, pretty much, but I am at a complete loss as to what would cause this.

Any ideas?
