iPad not compatible with Nyko Stereo Link?

I recently bought the Nyko Stereo Link on eBay but it only seems to work with my iPod classic and not with my iPad. It is as if the iPad doesn't even detect that it is hooked up via the dock and continues playing music through the built-in speakers. I'm aware that certain iPod accessories won't charge the iPad, but I don't understand why I can't even transmit sound through the dock. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

This is a problem with many accessories that are not wired up to activate sound through the dock connector on i-devices with internal speaker.

does the airplay's icon appear? if yes, just tap on it and switch to the dock audio interface
