I use iPhone the most. Ipad I mainly use for watching videos and movies or doing quick web browsing. Lack of multitasking and lagging on the iPad Air does annoy me sometimes, which the iPad Pro would resolve, but I guess iPad isn’t really made for productivity anyway and the MacBook Pro sorts that out. Same with google drive. I don’t find that particularly easy to use on iPad but I guess the pro won’t really sort that out. It might make it faster but it’s still a mobile interface.Overall they are all running the same iOS. iPhone you are just gaining wireless charging, a faster phone, and loosing touch i.d. but gaining face i.d. The iPad has a faster processor and sharper screen.
Everything is relative to how you use your iPad and iPhone. If you own a MacBook, think about when you upgrade. Which is more important? Processing or Added features (i.e. Touch Bar, ports Touch iD,etc)

It’s still a difficult choice. The iPad pro would be fast and less annoying. But the iPhone X has a better camera and the latest tech.I agree with and endorse this statement.
Let's... just not go there. If you don't want to use your iPad for productivity, that's fine but don't project your own use (or lack thereof) on the device. The iPad IS a productivity tool, it's just not the right tool for everybody. End of story.
If you're more comfortable on your Macbook than the iPad for "productivity", then your better bet is the iPhone upgrade.

I still like iPad. The iPad Air is just annoying now because it’s become laggy and cant multitask.I think iPhone upgrade will be better for you given your attitude towards iPads in general.

What can the pro do that the iPad 2017 can’t?In such situation look at the iPad 2017 rather than the pro models.
What can the pro do that the iPad 2017 can’t?
What would the extra horsepower be useful for? Would it be video editing, 3D design etc?Support for Pencil and better screen. Of course also more powerful but you won’t really need that horsepower with your usage.

I do occasionally use iPad for docs/slides/sheets etc and also sharing/emailing things from google drive.
Can it handle Skype video/voice calls and drive at the same time?Yes mostly video and photo editing, graphics design and drawings.
For your usage iPad 2017 is perfect. I do all that all day everyday. Get a small wireless keyboard if you’re into typing a lot and you’ll be set.
I am quite tempted by iPhone X though for the new tech, bigger screen and better camera and better battery life. Can it handle Skype video/voice calls and drive at the same time?
The battery life on the 6s is terrible with my usage. iPad still lasts probably due to higher battery. Can it handle Skype video/voice calls and drive at the same time?

I sometimes tether my iPad to iPhone as well which really sucks power out of the iPhone. I’d do it more often if it didn’t take so much power or if I could share data between my iPad and iPhone but my carrier doesn’t let me do that. With ease. In fact being on a video call while working is a bliss on iPad with iOS 11 and the new multi window feature.
The price difference between the pro models and the iPad 2017 is huge. You could potentially have budget to upgrade both.
The X lasts longer than average non plus model iPhones for sure. But no iPhone can ever match the battery life of an iPad. Really depends on your usage and requirements to be honest.
Is iPhone 6s to iPhone X a bigger upgrade than iPad Air to iPad Pro 10.5?
But compared to an iPad Air would an iPad Pro 10.5 be much of an upgrade? No. If you don’t play games or are an instagrammer for a living, most apps like safari, gmail, Facebook etc won’t be better on the iPhone X. Phones have reached the point of diminishing returns. Battery life will be better but get a battery replacement and a different case for you 6s and it will fell like a new phone.
I had an iPad 3 which was painfully slow to the point that I didn’t want to use it. In 2 months I have used my 10.5 more than I did my iPad 3 during the 24 months before I traded it in. The loud speakers are so good that I rarely pair the iPad with my blunt tooth kitchen speaker, split screen is god sent and picture in picture is used frequently.
It’s been HUGE upgrade to the point that I now want to grab the iPad more often than the MacBook.

I’m also pondering whether the iPhone upgrade is better given that my 6s battery life is now terrible, the x has a bigger screen and better camera. The air isn’t too bad with speed and battery life is ok.
