I ordered my iPad Air 2 within minutes of appearing online with a 64GB Space Grey WiFi + Cellular Configuration.

I was given a shipping date of 22nd - 24th October, and I've just logged on and found to my absolute horror that shipping has slipped to 28th - 31st October! I'm not happy one bit. I wouldn't be so unhappy if it has slipped 1/2 days, but over another week. That's not good.

I don't feel it's acceptable to tell a customer it's coming by the 24th and then change it to the 31st...

Thoughts? I was going to try John Lewis.

UPDATE: Good News! Just went on and found that it's changed back to 22nd - 24th with Delivery 22nd - 24th with Express Shipping. Very pleased :)

Its called an estimate for a reason. The slippage happens, and it has nothing to do with being acceptable. All things being equal, its a luxury item and waiting another week isn't the end of the world for most people.

Those are always estimates and should be adhered to emphatically, IMO. It stinks that it slipped, but what recourse does anyone have? It's down to supply and demand and logistics. Things change and we should be adaptable to those changes.

But an estimate of 22nd slipping to the 28th is bad..

Its frustrating I understand, and I'd be bummed out too, but I've seen worse with apple before. I ordered a laptop years ago and it slipped nearly a month. Was I happy no, but there's not much you can do about it.

Any chance I could just pick one up in store? Do we have any idea when cellular models go on sale?

I was able to get two iPhone 6 plus models by ordering online with local pickup. It took a bit of work but I kept doing this every morning around 6:00am my time. I found that Tuesdays and Thursdays were the days that I was successful.

I had to do it in two different orders because I was switching carriers and I couldn't transfer a second line during my initial purchase.

Check again. Many of us whose dates slipped today have now reverted to the original date.

You could try some other brand of tablet. I hear there is little demand for them, so should be plenty available.

This part in bold takes the prize for today's most ridiculous, overly dramatic internet quote. Just relax, it's not the end of the world.

simply cancel the order and buy it at a local store today.

For me the reverse happened. My initial email said in-store pick up on the 31st and now it says the 24th

I don't believe there has been any official word about the cellular models release date. I preordered and the cellular model still isn't shipping even though the WiFi models are.
