Hello,
I wasn't sure where to post this, and finally decided on a forum full of apple fans who hopefully may answer my question.
I have an ipad 3, wifi model.
I took it to school, where there is. Wifi network, which has a password which I don't know, and consequently, have never accessed. So I have no Internet at school.

However, when I check my photo map, photos that I have taken in school appear there on the map. It's scarily precise as well, e.g., a photo I have taken in one of the science labs appears on my map roughly where It would be in real life.

How is this happening with no Internet access????

iPad's wifi location triangulation feature just needs to sense nearby routers to lfigure out your location, you don't need to be signed in to them.
