Well, I have these 2 devices, and I always thought that the iPhone X camera was supposed to be better than the camera in the iPad (the camera in the iPad Pro 10.5” is supposed to be like the one in the iPhone 7).
I have a Sony a7III currently so I don’t usually use the phone or of course the tablet for serious pictures (I don’t use the iPad for photos at all, actually), but I was curious a couple of days ago and decided to test both Cameras. I shot RAW using ProShot App with both cameras, and my findings are:

- Both lenses are supposed to have the same aperture (f1.8), but still, when using the same ISO and the same shutter speed, the iPad can gather 1.3 eV brighter exposure than the iPhone. Why is that? Is it just the way that the RAW is recorded? I don’t know.
- The iPhone X lens is sharper in the corners than the iPad, but the iPad is slightly sharper in the rest of the frame (like 90%).
- The Dynamic Range is similar in both raws, and the iPad seems to show less noise in the shadows (at same shutter speed).
- I took both pictures in Daylight white balance, and the WB number is a bit different in lightroom.

I find especially interesting the first point. Why the iPhone X is so much darker? I mean, it’s not a slight difference. The iPad gathers 133% more light than the iPhone with the same shutter speed, meaning it can freeze action better, user lower ISOs in low light, etc.

Anybody else have experience this?
