I just picked up a refurbished iPad Pro 11" and I'm looking for the right folio style case for my needs. I need something with a decent amount of protection but not something that's too bulky.

The main problem I've run into so far is trying to find a case that doesn't have any kind of holder or attachment for the pencil. I don't have any need for this and would really prefer a case without that feature.

So far I've tried the Moshi Versacover, and it's nice but I'm afraid it's a bit too thin and wouldn't protect at all against drops.

I'm coming from an iPad Pro 10.5" that I had a Zugu Muse. I loved that case but the version for the 11" has a pencil holder.

Maybe there's a case that can be modified to remove it's pencil holder, but I haven't been able to find it.

Try Apple Smart Folio: is thin and you can remove easily than to the magnet system. And if in the future you will need to put the pencil on the side, you will not need to change case 😉

I love the smart folio but worry about the lack of drop protection and the sides being exposed. Does anyone make a bumper that can be added to it for extra protection?

Use it everyday at work (neurosurgical resident: ward round, OT, ER) and still haven’t got problem. Simply pay attention at your iPad 😉

It makes me nervous but maybe I’ll give it a shot! Do you have any scuffs around the sides?

A little on the expensive side are the cases from pad and quill. The new 2020 iPad Pro cases will fit the older 11 inch. However good sal on the 2018 cases. Leather or book bound. All have a hang over protective edge. I have been using their cases for several years and love them. Currently have 2 on order for my 2020 12.9 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard..

Thanks for the recommendations. I might have to try all of them out!

If you’re still looking check out www.zugucase.com. They make the best iPad cases bar none, if you don’t need a keyboard. They do include a pencil holder but it’s flat on the back and would not prevent the that part of the case from laying completely flat if you don’t use a pencil.

Karma: today a fall on the ground at work.
