I’m wondering if anyone knows why the cell radios in the big iPad Pro weigh so much more than the smaller form factors? Also anyone know how the 2nd gen got a weight reduction in general even though they managed to fit a bigger battery in this generation?

It looks like the 10.5 has a plastic filler in place of the cell radio on the wifi version. This plastic block is not present in the wifi version of the 12.9 (although they do reference the old tear down - it could have changed). This would make the difference in the wifi vs cell weight of the 12.9 greater than the difference in the 10.5.
