Anyone using this combo?

Keen to try move to IPP as my main machine for work and play, as I find iOS more stable and the hardware seems great. But I won't be able to completely drop macOS entirely I do audio with Logic but really just hobbyist stuff. The rest would just be for mac specific tasks. I might wait until WWDC to see what iOS14 brings before going ahead but keen to hear others' who are using IPP + lower end config air as backup.

I use a base 2020 MBA with a 2018 iPP 11" in tandem and find that they pair well together. I use the iPP as mostly a consumption device but also some Pixelmator/Affinity photo editing work with the Pencil and find it to be a very enjoyable experience. I use the MBA for typing and some Lightroom/Photoshop editing as well and it's also been a pleasure using it so far. Fired up FCPX tonight for the first time since using the MBA and I gotta say it handled it like a champ. Granted I was working with 1080p footage and not massive 4K files but based on some of the things I read I was concerned it wouldn't be able to do a single thing in FCPX which I was pleasantly surprised to find that it could.

I’ve been considering this combo as well. I have the 2020 12.9 iPad Pro and Apple Magic Keyboard but still have an interest in the MBA 2020 i3 (considered a refurbed 2019 i5 also). Just unsure whether I can justify the MBA in addition as there isn’t a great deal that I can’t do on the iPad that I need to do. Wish you could access itunes on an iPad ! I can get the Apple Education Store discount but it’s still a fraction under £900 for the i3.
