Hello,

I have an iPad pro 12.9 3rd generation and have been having an issue with a specific app where it seems to get stupid claiming that I disconnected from the network, so in order to eliminate WiFi as a possible suspect of the problem, I decided to try and use ethernet for my connection when using this app.

I went to Amazon and ended up getting this device because many people reported success with using it via ethernet on their iPad Pros.

However, when I connect it to my iPad, providing power using the power connector for my 2019 MBP, ethernet lights up of course (because it has power), but my iPad wont show that it's charging and it wont access the network or the internet when I disable Wifi.

I should add that the router I am connected to is in fact configured to supply IP addresses via DHCP and I use this cable on my MBP all the time without any problems at all. I simply disconnected it from the MBP and connected it to this new device. In fact, when I connect the device (this new one that I just got) to my MBP (with WiFi disabled), it picks up an IP address and gets to the Internet / local network without any problems at all.

When I did some googling it appears that when you connect an ethernet adapter to the usb-c port on an iPad pro, it will automatically switch off wifi and prefer the ethernet connection, but I can't seem get mine to recognize the device at all.

HOWEVER, when I shut down the iPad and while it is in the off state, I simply plug in the adapter (while power is applied to it), it causes the iPad to boot but after it's booted ... nothing.

SO, I'm wondering ... is it the device I selected? Or could it be something wrong with my iPad?

Any thoughts?
