Has anybody installed the beta on an iPad Pro 9.7"? If yes, what are your impressions in terms of performance?

Noticeable speed increase! Was finding iOS 11 getting quite sluggish and choppy in places, but this makes it feel like a new iPad

Just curious, how is the battery life on the iPad?

Seems largely the same (which is to say, not very good).

Last morning, about 2+ hours of web browsing, Tweetbot, watching YouTube and some Tapatalk use was enough to bring it down to 60%.

When I first got my iPad Pro, it was able to end the day at around 20 or 30%. Now, I have to charge it during the day, else it’s dead before I leave work.

Not sure if the battery just isn’t as good as before (a battery app pegs it at 80% but the Apple store diagnosed it to still be at 94%, so no dice on a replacement), the OS being more demanding or some other rogue process.

I think it lasts roughly 5-6 hours these days.

This isn’t on the 9.7 inch, but I feel it’s relevant. My iPad Pro 10.5 Inch is obliviously a huge battery hog on iOS 12 beta. I lose 15% battery per hour. It used to be more like 5% on iOS 11. I could easily get 13 hours of use out of it.

5-6 hours?? That's a shame. My 9.7 iPad Pro has 93% battery health and it still gets 13.5-14 hours with light use, and 11-12 with one of the most heavy draining games I have ever played. Granted, it's still on iOS 9.3.4... Now, with a quite heavy use of that game, YouTube, Safari and a movie on Netflix is on 6 hours of use with 55% remaining.
Did you notice a sudden drop after updating to iOS 11?

I am assuming that this will not happen in the final release. Remember this is just a beta. It is just a little bit irksome that I can't rely on my all day battery life until things settle down. I use my iPad for work so I need to lug a charger along. It comes with the territory. I wanted to test the better performance of the beta. Can't complain there.

I know, but as he said it seemed largely the same (I assume compared to iOS 11).

Well, I guess there might be some truth to an Apple device performing best on the OS it shipped with.

Yeah, the battery life started to dip around the start of the year. That makes it iOS 11.1 or .2?

hello, battery on my iPad Pro 12.9" is not charging how it used to. It's extremely slow, and I'm using the USB-C lightning charger. I hope that is fixed in the next update. It's taking a few hours to charge just from 40% to 93%.

Performance hasn't been good either. Even though the iPad was plugged in while watching Netflix, the battery still went down. :( Otherwise, performance tasks have been good!

It's a mix of iOS updates and 80% battery life. Apple's battery diagnostic for iPads is always wrong. Stick to coconut battery for the truth. And if your iPad shipped with iOS 10, iOS 11 means a reduction of max battery life even with a fresh battery by around 20-30% or so.

This is exactly how my experience has been. This iPad is so much faster now. For me, the battery life has not changed significantly, either. I hope I have the same results when iOS 12 officially comes out.

My iPP 9.7 is having no issues on 12 b3. Very pleased and battery has been excellent. Last all day without issue.

Same here, I have not had any issues with my iPP 9.7 - I am currently running PB2. Battery life is about the same and things are smooth.

I would try a clean install. Something might have got corrupted. I also have noticed that with PB2 my iOS devices don’t quite like getting charged by 3rd party devices such as bluetooth transmitters with USB ports.

PB2 on iPP 9.7 and i find it quite amazing for a beta. Most of the jank/stutter that IOS 11 brought with it is gone. Especially noticable when multitasking and opening apps, considerably smoother now.

It's definitely snappier but I think the battery is a bit worse—but it can be hard to say for sure. What I can say with certainty is that the battery sometimes runs very hot, which never used to happen for me on iOS11.

I find the battery to be equal to IOS 11. But I have also noticed that the backside of the iPad gets slightly warmer than usual while charging, even though it’s not getting used while charging.
