Hello everyone,

I just purchased the 12.9 iPad Pro for note taking in school. I'm liking it so far, but I am having issues printing my notes taken on Onenote

This is my issue:

I hand write and add pdf slides to a note, and when I would like to print it at home I follow microsofts recommended procedure> email note to self, then print from email. I select print with the Brother app (my printer doesn't have AirPrint) and when brother prints my notes, it will print alllll of my handwritten/PDF inserted notes onto a single page. My notes are zoomed way out and appear as a thin strip of writing on the page. Is onenote not capable of breaking your notes up into separate pages?

Also, if I write my notes too far to the right of the page, it will print the page in landscape mode in order to fill the entire note on the page.

Is there something I am doing wrong? I feel as if notibility may be the better option because of this, even though it's organization and pen selection layout is not as good.

First, congrats on the new iPad!

Onto OneNote!
I occasionally print handwritten notes directly from OneNote. If you're printing from a PC or Mac at home, then I suggest either printing directly from OneNote (both Mac and PC have free versions you can sync over OneDrive), or converting your Notes to a PDF before printing.

Check your printer settings and make sure you don't have a "fit to page" option checked.

Thanks for the reply bensisko, it looks like I will just have to print my notes from the home pc then. Hopefully Microsoft adds a more convenient and polished way of printing from onenote on the iPad in the near future.

I want to mention this because I don't agree or disagree with MS on this one, but I get the feeling that because the OneNote solution is to be used on all of our devices, the idea of printing is an afterthought at best. I have not bothered to print myself (I am really trying to be paper free with my iPad pro) but I believe one can create a template that limits the size of paper in a particular notebook, that may be a solution by limiting the space you can actually write?

Yeah this is really nothing new when it comes to OneNote, unfortunately, even on a PC. Back in my college days, I used a Tablet PC and ended up using OneNote for my actual notes that I didn't have to print off. But for assignments that needed to be printed and turned in I used Windows Journal since it replicated actual pages that printed as such.

Given how OneNote is tailored more to that continuous scroll layout, does anyone have a suggestion for an app which does that individual page layout when things need to be printed?

Notability, Personally wasn't my favorite app prior to the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. But using it with an IPP and Apple pencil it is probably my go to app for note taking and pdf mark ups. The app syncs with both iCloud and dropbox and has a iPhone app and app for the mac.

I like GoodNotes personally. Goes page by page. Can import/export as PDF. Syncs to iCloud and most other cloud services. And has an iPad app (fully optimized for the 12.9" iPP), an iPhone app and a Mac app.

I had the same issue with one note when I first got my iPad and I switched to notability and haven't had an issue since

I want to use Notability because it has superior picture options than GoodNotes BUT no search!!! This is a huge missing feature for Notability. I'm currently using One Note but is meh is features.
