Currently I have an iPad Pro M4, and iPhone 16 Pro. I don’t use the Pro features on my phone daily, but I do enjoy the ability to select in-frame audio on videos, layer different audio tracks in voice memos etc, have lidar and the wide photo lens.

However, I’m tempted by the new iPhone Air and am wondering how many of the features missing from the Air can be made up with my iPad.

For instance, I know it has lidar so on the rare occasion I need to scan stuff, I can use the iPad instead of the phone.

What I can’t find much info on is whether the iPad also has the audio capabilities mentioned above, or are they limited to the phone?

My dilemma is that the Air is tempting me because the reduced weight and thickness will be appreciated all day every day, whereas the pro features are used less often. But when I do need them, they’re important and so I’d miss them - unless the iPad lets me do most of them.

Your dilemma seems to be based on a spec comparison. Why don’t you look at the features comparison list, or better yet- try to do these things with the iPad you own and see if you can. I absolutely fail to see how anyone else can help you. You own the hardware you want to use to replace your iPhone needs. Do it and try. If it can be replicated then good, if not then I dunno. But you’re asking an entirely bizarre question that you yourself can answer better than anyone here.
