Over the last few days, I have been researching quite a bit and I'm getting nowhere on what the best option will be for my situation.

I've just upgraded from an old iPad Mini to the new iPad Pro which I'm very pleased with. For my purposes, I used to use the headphone jack (into a desk) and then got the Apple Lightning to USB adapter which allowed me to plugin my MIDI device and charge at the same time. It all worked fine.

I'm currently at a loss for the best way to achieve this with the new iPad Pro? I've looked at hubs but they seem overkill, and looking at the various adapters has got me rather confused. I've also seen people say the audio quality can suffer with certain hubs etc. I'm planning on getting the magic keyboard for the iPad Pro, which in theory, should allow me to charge through the passthorugh?

Any help/advice would be appreciated, thank you!

I use this, and its perfect :

can plug your midi device in, has a headphone jack and a passthru USB-C for charging ... even SD card slots if you want to store your media there for transfer to your computer ....

I realise this is a very late reply, but I have found the following works:

iPad => USB-A (f)-to-USB-C (m) adaptor => a standard USB-A hub (I am using a USB2 flavour one)
HUB port 1 => USB-A-to-MIDI converter cable
HUB port 2=> USB-C (f)-to-USB-A (m) adaptor => Apple USB-C (m)-to- Audio (f) Converter => Headphones

I count 4 adaptors and a hub, there. Still, it works, and I had them on hand anyway.

You could lose one of the converters by getting a USB hub with a USB-C connector cable.
