IPAD randomly shuts off, unable to connect to network

Out of the blue my IPAD is randomly shutting down after I use it for a few minutes. The apple logo comes on and the IPAD reboots. I've attempted to hold the home button and power button to reset and it's not working. I connected it to my macbook in an attempt to restore it and/or update the software but after awhile it says the IPAD can't be found.

Also at the top left it just has "searching" for network.

Any suggestions besides taking it to the Apple Store?
