iPad says "not connected" but internet works and I can use Safari and all other apps

On my iPad 2 Wifi only the signal icon doesn't appear and when I go on wifi in the settings app, it says not connected and my network doesn't appear. However, I can still use the Internet perfectly fine with all my apps. Strange?
