Hi people,

Couple days ago i woke up on a morning and did my usual thing, grabbed the iPad out from under the bed to read some news and found this. Everything is still functional (the touch panel and all that) except the LCD panel. No idea what might had caused it as I was using it before bed on the night before and it was perfectly fine and then i put it under the bed and went to sleep.

Can't seem to find anyone with similar issues, maybe im just searching for the wrong key words. Its an iPad 1gen given by my uncle earlier in the year. I even have the receipt (it wasn't bought from an Apple retail store) and the purchase date says it was bought in Feb, so supposedly it is still in warranty?
Im planning to take it to an Apple store and see what they can do with it but i thought you guys might know better on what might happen to it or what i can do before i take it to the store.

By the way the iPad is jailbroken, should i restore a clean copy of the iOS before i take it to the store?

Any helps appreciated!

Always, always, always restore before taking it to the Apple Store. Worst thing they can tell you is no they can't replace it.

Odd storage spot, what else is under there?

And jailbreaking voids your warranty
Yeah it's kind of a weird habit :p, but it makes it very easy to grab when i wake up. I can just roll over to the side of the bed and grab it from there. I do that with my phone. Plug in the charging cable and put it under. I don't put anything else down there.

Yeah will definitely do a restore first then. :)

Hmmm.... Have you ever heard of a nightstand? :p

Yeah, i do have one but my little brother has all his junks (books, toys etc) on it and its just not the time of the year for me to clean my room :p Gotta wait till all the exams are over and i get my new Macs :D

Just a bit of an update and closing the thread i guess.
Went to Apple today and the guy had a look at it and swapped me a new one. Very happy! :)

Got in under the screen I'm guessing....At least you got a new one..Keep it on its stand @ night! Condensation and damp are mortal enemies!!

Ah, yeah but i live in australia, quite a humid place.
The guy said it looked like the LCD panel had a crack which caused those bad pixel lines, but he had no idea what might had caused and there was no visible damage or anything so he replaced it. But yeah, nightstand's good idea

Why were you hiding it under the bed....? Could have reached for it and got a funnel web instead.....:D

Definitely a cracked LCD (not necessarily visible from exterior). Exactly same happened to my iPhone 4, but I actually dropped it.

bad news..

Hey guys, bad news. The replacement iPad's got issue as well.
Under heavy use, it starts to glitch and goes into this (attached photos).
Looks like I need an other trip to the apple store again...
