iPad Smart Cover Build Quality??

Can those of you with iPad Smart Covers expand on the build quality of the smart covers? I'm thinking about getting one, but a lot of reviews on the Apple Store claimed that it started falling apart around the 6-7 month mark. If that's true, I think I'd rather just get 3rd party case.

got it on day 1 still looks perfect....and used heavily in business travel...

I have a leather one and I cannot see it falling apart. My guess is they did not take care of it and abused it.

I have been using my Apple Smart Cover -polyeurathane one - since April '11. Looks as good as the day I got it.

There have been many complaints about knock off "smart covers" purchased on EBAY, and even ones claiming to be Apple Smart Covers sold for less on Amazon.

You get what you pay for, I guess.

Recently bought a red leather one. Stain quality was poor and I could see black in the red.

Returned it.

Also the quality of the leather be pretty poor. So much so, that fake PU leather looks better.
