The Satechi R1 is the best stand I've used. It's a little pricey at like $45 but well worth it. I've used it for every ipad/ipad mini i've had.

I have this love it nice wieght to it the adjustments feel solid and it feels like it can handle my iPad 3 (borrowed) without a sweat. Plus if you sign up with Anker i think you can review products and keep them if you honestly review it (not done this yet but others on the forum have). The reviews on amazon are all 5/5 and mention that it allows thick cases.

That Satechi looks really good and the price is excellent right now. Hmmm I might just have to pick it up :)

Can you comment about that poor guy on amazon whose Satechi turned into a catapult and destroyed his iPad?

Don't see how that's remotely possible. I've had mine ever since I got an iPad 1 and have never had any problem with it, let alone catapulting. It's very stable and the arms move in two places so I don't even see how that's possible.

I should add that I like having my ipad/ipad mini raised a bit and I keep my iphone underneath it, on the flat bottom of the stand. Love that setup.

You can't go wrong w/ the Satechi especially for only $25. Still debating whether to get a 2nd one. I've never seen them for less than $40.
