Considering getting an iPad (when the new version comes out).

But here is something that bothers me.

How can a man carry an iPad with him without looking like some total douche with a manpurse?

Suggestions?

Personally, I could care less how someone who doesn't know me views me, but I would recommend a portfolio style case for the iPad. I just picked up an iPad last weekend and I'm waiting on my Griffin Elan for the iPad to arrive.

How do you carry a MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, or any other roughly notebook-sized item around? Not sure why you would think carrying an iPad in a case would have some sort of negative impact on people's perception of your manliness.

I have my iPad in an Apple case and generally carry it in another backpack/briefcase or on its own in the case. So far I haven't noticed anyone scoffing at my choice of transport.

I suggest you stop caring what others think, and get what's easiest for you. Guess I am considered a douche though, carry my messenger bag all day. Something has to hold my camera, iPad, and iPhone...(and my work docs)

Also, there's things called cases, prety easy to hold in one hand!

Get a satchel

You won't find better made leather bags anywhere else:

The medium satchel is a perfect fit for the ipad. If you have the 10.6" MacBook Air, get the large satchel and it will generously fit both the MBA and the ipad plus other items for travel or just day to day use.

What I love about this bag is that it's a classic style that looks great on a guy and on a woman too.

Or maybe this is more your speed, because nothing says MANLY more than a bag in camo print.

To a point i agree, yet some people work in fields where they deal with clients and impressions can make a big difference. So it's not an unreasonable question.

My iPad in an Apple case fits in my computer bag fine. Haven't had a need to carry it without other stuff as well.

I slip it into a leather Targus sleeve and carry it. Sometimes I put in a brief case. Never found it to be a problem.

I use a Cocoon Harlem sling bag to carry the Ipad and it accessories items around along with some basic eveyday items i need here and there ..plus when i'm out shopping i have a day pack i throw the other things into and keep on going into the daypack is full and i ready to head towards the car to dump out the day pack and keep going to the diff places i like to shop at ..

That bag is the definition of man bag. Oblong shape, shoulder strap. Looks like that bag the dude was carrying in the Progressive Insurance commercial, European purse LOL.

Guys, if you are steppin' out the crib and you look like ths, you need to rethink your bag choices.

Uhm, no, it is in fact a bag (see the dimensions). By your definition, any iPad/netbook messenger bag is a man purse (just because it is not huge). But I can agree that on 190 cm guy it would look a bit different than on me (170 cm).

I use the icase travel kit plus or a neoprene sleeve. I think the travel kit plus looks like a netbook case and since it doesn't have a carrying strap, it can't be carried over the shoulder and thus look like a murse...
