I'm sure nobody knows at this point until AT&T says something as they did with the iPad 2, but I'm really curious to know if those with the grandfathered $30 unlimited plan would be able to use it with 4G on the iPad 3.

It would be a new plan so it would end your unlimited.

Why would it end the unlimited? When I got the 4S it changed the name of the plan, but I was still able to keep unlimited. I imagine it would be the same. Maybe the iPad is different?!?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Depends if it requires a new sim card/ contract

You answered yourself in your OP. Odds are it won't matter but there's no telling for certain until it happens.

4S was still 3G. I fully expect AT&T to use the move to LTE to get people off unlimited plans.

The 4S is not a 4G phone, you're still using a 3G data plan. AT&T has (so far) allowed for grandfathering of unlimited 3G for to 4G for phone subscribers but it's still a different plan. I seriously doubt they'll do that for iPad 3G users.

NO ONE knows the answer about this for sure.

I doubt that AT&T will announce this until Apple at least announces the iPad 3:p

I've kept my unlimited data with AT&T through the following devices:

iPhone 1 > iPhone 3G > iPhone 4 > iPhone 4S > Samsung Galaxy S2 SkyRocket

from 2G to 3G to 4G HSPA+ to 4G LTE.

I'm sure they would do the same with the iPad.

Simlar here, I currently have Unlimited LTE on my HTC Vivid.

(Iphone 2G - Iphone 4 - Inspire 4G - Vivid)
