Is anyone still having issues with the subtitle size in the native iPad movie player? I remember reading a lot of threads back when the iPad and the Apple TV 2 first came out about subtitle sizes, but when I didn't see them as much recently, I was hoping the issue was solved. However, it seems that it never was fixed.

Most of my movies are 720p H.264 m4v's with .srt subtitles. I added the .srt subtitles using Subler and set them to be 120 pixels high. Unfortunately, the iPad doesn't seem to care what size I set, and shows the subtitles very small and difficult to read. This is very troublesome to me with my new iPad 2, since most of my movies and shows require subtitles.

Anyone else having trouble with soft .srt subtitles in the native iOS player? Anyone found a fix yet?

That's great, but if I want a 3rd party app, I'd just load the original mkv's into AV Player HD. I'm talking about the native player.

I have AVPlayer on iPhone but failing to add .srt with movies. I still confuse that. Easy to add .srt in using CineXPlayer.

External or embedded? Mine are embedded in m4v's. It's hard to tell what CineXPlayer can do, since the description is mostly about DivX/avi, and I don't have any DivX/avi.

That said, if I'm going to use a third party player, I'd just upload the mkv's and AV Player HD plays those back with the original .ass subtitles just fine.

However, I'm looking for a solution for the native player, not a third party player, unless they happen to support syncing with iTunes and Home Sharing.

Oh I see. I have used some Div/avi movies for CineXPlayer. finally worked to play MKV movies with .srt subtitle in AVPlayer on my iPhone. Thank you for explaining. :)
