iPad videos to TV

Can anyone help me, I have purchased and downloaded videos from I-Tunes and would like to play them on my TV. I have the HDMI-video adapter for the iPad, but when I plug it in and try to play, it stops it and says I can't play protected videos on my TV. They are not ripped versions, all were purchased and downloaded right from ITunes. It will play music videos and show my icons and such, just won't play the videos. Any advice?
By the way this is my first post here and I must confess, I'm not a computer genius:confused:

Thank you Abby21 for your suggestion. Tried it, but it still would not work!
I am trying to use my HDMI cable with the video adapter.:mad:
