Depending on what type of films you're talking about, there's at least one 3rd party video player out there that can boost the volume in addition to the device volume. I've been using It's Playing Pro, and I know it has a volume adjust that modulates the built-in volume control. I think it might have a lite version that you can try out. But, it won't play your drm'ed content, nor can it access videos from your camera roll.
