here and there
hello, hello

i am thinking of gifting an ipad now that it has a camera. my question is, what common things can it not do outside of jailbreaking it? what is common? external storage devices, bluetooth mice, things of that nature.

this will be for an in-law who has a computer but is more comfortable with the interface of the ios.

thx.

It can't accept external storage or use a mouse. It can't play flash content. Apart from that, you're good to go.

PS If you'd like to gift one to me too, that'd be great...

hmm. i shall take that into consideration. the macbook air might equally delight and it is comparable in size. i want to give her a nice compact device but have it very easy for her to use. she has used iphones so it seems most logical to go with the ipad.

Well, the bluetooth mouse isn't exactly a draw back - it's a touchscreen device, there's no mouse at all. So no point for a bluetooth one, is there? I recommend the iPad. Incredibly portable and does most of the things a full computer does.
