Purchased in April 2011 and never one problem until this week, when apps started crashing (mail, safari, etc.) after just 10 second or so of being open. I'm running the latest OS updates and nothing else has changed in months. I tried resetting, but didn't solve the problem.

Any ideas? I'm outside of Applecare phone support (and 2 hours from an Apple store) so not sure how best to get warranty service.

Any thoughts are welcome.

It's not a hardware problem. Have you cleared your multitasking bar? I know it's elementary, but you would not believe how many people who complain about poor performance have never cleared their multitasking bar. Try restoring after that. If that doesn't work, restore and set up as a new iPad.

Thanks. Yes, I cleared the apps that are running. Same issues. I'll try restoring.
