In an internal memo obtained by MacRumors earlier this month, Apple said it was investigating an issue where some sixth-generation iPad mini units may fail to charge after being updated to iPadOS 15.5. Now, the issue has been fixed with a software update.

Apple today released iPadOS 15.6 with a fix for an issue where the sixth-generation iPad mini may not detect a charger or other USB-C accessories, according to the release notes for the update. iPadOS 15.6 was released earlier today alongside iOS 15.6, macOS 12.5, watchOS 8.7, tvOS 15.6, and HomePod software version 15.6.

The full release notes for iPadOS 15.6:
iPadOS 15.6 includes enhancements, bug fixes and security updates.

- TV app adds the option to restart a live sports game already in-progress and pause, rewind, or fast-forward
- Fixes an issue where Settings may continue to display that device storage is full even if it is available
- Fixes an issue that may cause braille devices to slow down or stop responding when navigating text in Mail
- Fixes an issue in Safari where a tab may revert back to a previous page
- Fixes an issue where iPad mini (6th generation) may not detect a charger or other USB-C accessory
For users who choose to remain on iPadOS 15.5 for now, restarting the iPad mini and/or disconnecting and reconnecting the charger may temporary solve the issue, but updating to iPadOS 15.6 is necessary for a permanent fix.

My 2012 15" retina MacBook Pro also got Catalina and Safari security updates. There could then be even more security updates for earlier Mac OS systems. Thanks Apple. I want to keep using my 2012 MacBook Pro for many more years. Don't see any need to upgrade.

As soon as macOS Ventura is released, macOS Catalina will be discontinued and won’t receive any security update going forward…

This issue: Charged my M6 after it showed 2% late last week. Last night, grab it to continue reading and screen black. Hold button down, and screen blazes on, and then shows 3% charge! So 100% goes to 3% in a handful of days? I've never had that happen with this device, and now ****BOOM****? Yikes...

I see zero fix of reminders bug which prevents app data deletion and thereby cutting off all iCloud sync. Arggggg

Odd bug isn’t it. My 6 not manifesting these. Absolutely no problem charging. Also used three different hubs with SD cards, usb flash drives, external usb 3 hds, optical mouse, ethernet, all fine.
What I want is file info (size/dates/etc) and I hear it’s coming in 16.

My iPad mini 6 still has issues with the charger after the 15.6 update. It will recognize the charger, but only after I reboot. After the reboot, I it recognizes the charger again & all is well, and it charges to 100 percent. But when I need to recharge, I still have to reboot, every single time!!

You need to go to an Apple store and return it. (they are fully aware of the problem) Or call CS if you don't live by an Apple store.

me too. I restart, use different chargers, and it always says NOT CHARGING even though it is trickle charging but never get an actual charge.

Still a charging issue on 15.6. It has lightening bolt sometimes as soon as plugged in but then it switches to NOT CHARGING in corner. It trickle charges a bit but haven't gotten to even 70% in past few months. I turn off, restart, plug in ~ no change. Very frustrating!
