Leaving this here, as I know it may take a few days for people to know. I'm curious as this is a huge concern for me, as I already have some issues with 15.7. I know with big numbered updates, it tends to get worse. So if anyone has any input (if they were using the RC builds, or latest beta's before release) any differences would be helpful! Thanks :)

Since I just did the update on my 2021 3rd generation iPad Pro 11 inch last night, and didn’t use it after it was done installing it, I am expecting a hit on battery life for a day or two. I ran iPadOS 16 beta on my 10.5 inch iPad Pro and battery still lasted all day. It will be interesting to see how it is.

Like you said, it's going to take a while for the new OS to finish processing in the background, but if iOS 16.1 is any indication, battery life is going to be on par with 15.7.

Actually it was rather surprising, used it all day yesterday, although I only actually do work for around 4 hours of the work day, the rest of the day I am killing time roaming around the building, getting starbucks or going outside to enjoy my cigars, and then its not used until evening, for a couple hours of really minor stuff, being on forums, fb, texting etc and when I plugged it to charge last night instead of it having the usual 58% left it was down to 52% so not bad at all.
